From a One-room Start to a Fully Customised Climate Controlled Environment
Originally one room in the family home at Waimate North, Bay of Islands, was used as a trial room. Now after three years there is a Pre-grow Room, two Climate Controlled Grow Rooms, and a Registered Kitchen. Oyster Mushrooms are very particular about the conditions they grow in, so to achieve optimum production, careful regulation of temperature, humidity and air flow are required.

Mighty Mushrooms has expanded its range from fresh mushrooms to include: Dried Oyster Mushrooms, Manuka Smoked Dried Oyster Mushrooms, Dried Oyster Mushroom Powder, and Manuka Smoked Dried Oyster Mushroom Powder.
Future Plans for Mighty Mushroom Products
We are currently expanding our mushroom growing to include both Burgundy Stropharia and Shiitake mushrooms, and hope to have both available by this summer.

The Burgundy Stropharia will be grown outdoors, in planter boxes, in a mixture of sawdust and dirt. These will be covered with plastic and insect mesh.
We are continuing on our plans to stay chemical spray free.

The Shiitake will be another indoor crop. We are experimenting with growing these in grow bags similar to the oyster mushrooms, but the medium for these will be sawdust.
Shiitake can take from 3 – 18 months to produce their first mushroom, but we are hopeful with our climate controlled room and our chemical spray free policy we can produce them in 3-6 months.
